Self-defense in Taekwon-Do

Hosinsul

Hosinul involves the practice of effective techniques for releasing prey or strangulation, as well as leverage and throwing techniques that may be adopted from another martial art.

Since in a self-defense situation there are no fixed rules, unlike in a competition situation, the attacker can surprise his victim with any possible action and the defender can use any type of self-defense to defend himself.

The goal of Hosinsul is to learn how to free oneself from all types of grabs and holds. Either by leverage techniques, throwing techniques or falling techniques.

The self-defense course also teaches defense against hand and foot techniques, as well as defense against attacks with weapons such as knives or sticks. Hosinsul also teaches that retreat can be the best and most effective means of self-defense and self-assertion.
